Home Health Care And Home Care Aren't The Same Thing

Hello, my name is Robert Young. Welcome. I am here to talk to you about medical procedures used to correct sinus problems. When I moved to a new area, I discovered that I was allergic to the plants in that location. I tried to remedy the situation using local honey, allergy medications and other tactics that just did not work. Once the sinus symptoms started occurring, I went to a specialist to receive care and find a solution. My specialist performed a simple corrective procedure to help improve sinus drainage and reduce the severity of my allergies. On this site, I will help everyone better understand procedures used to correct sinus problems. Thank you for visiting.

Home Health Care And Home Care Aren't The Same Thing

Home care and home health care are terms that many people tend to use interchangeably. However, they are two separate things. While they do have some similarities, there are also some significant differences between them.

Home Health Care

If you need home health care, it's because your doctor has ordered it for you. It was ordered because you need to have a medical professional come to your house to handle certain things for you. This includes things like preparing medicine for you, for example. If you have a lot of medications you need to take, the medical professional can organize them into pill dispenser for you making it easier for you to take them.

The nurse working for the home health care agency may also be able to do wound care for you. That would include changing any dressings, as well as monitoring any changes. Those changes could include infection or delayed healing. If surgical wounds or pressure sores get infected, they can cause some serious problems that may require further surgery or prolonged hospitalization. Catching any signs of infection as soon as possible helps you to avoid those risks.

There are other treatments that you can receive at home that a skilled medical professional can help you with. They include things like injections and IV medications. If you have to have IV antibiotics or daily antibiotic injections, going to your doctor's office or hospital isn't always possible. You may be at risk of contracting further illnesses, or be too contagious to leave your house. The home health care nurse will be able to safely continue your treatments.

Home Care

Home care is different from home health care. A home care worker takes care of all the daily living tasks that have to be done. Your home care worker will do things like help you shower and help you dress. They will also help you with basic housework and even prepare meals for you.

Another thing that your home care worker can do for you is to help you get to appointments and stay with you as support while you are at your appointment. They may also be able to go out into the community with you, taking you places like grocery stores and shopping.

Home health care and home care are two different things. That being said, you may be able to get skill medical care and home assistance from the same agency. That will let them cooperate and give you the best possible care. Speak with professionals like ComForcare - Mississippi, MS for more info.
